As service-wide bargaining enters its final stages, APS employees will see changes to terms and conditions of employment by the end of April.

The interim evaluation of the Australian Public Service Disability Employment Strategy 2020-25 has been published.

This week, the Australian Public Service Commission released the Statement of Common Conditions (the Statement), representing the conclusion of APS-wide bargaining. This marks an important milestone and signifies that agencies and bargaining representatives can now finalise their agency-level negotiations.

The Commonwealth will improve its pay offer for APS employees by bringing forward the date of the Year 1 pay increase from 14 March 2024 to 21 December 2023. Due to the expected timing of ballots this will be provided as a one-off payment. This improvement is the Commonwealth’s final offer to conclude APS-wide bargaining.

The Digital Traineeship Program welcomed its first cohort of participants induction training. This will prepare them for roles in their employing agencies and departments, the program’s early adopters.

The parental leave changes apply to many APS parents. The paid leave entitlements are available to both primary and secondary caregivers up to 24 months after your baby is born. This opens up this leave entitlement to parents who have had a baby in the last 2 years.
