Affirmative Measures Indigenous Recruitment Project
The Affirmative Measure Indigenous Recruitment project has reached a milestone of Phase 2 completion (co-design solutions). We have created a one-stop-shop of guidance and resources to support and enable effective recruitment using the Affirmative Measure (AM) – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment provision.
The Affirmative Measure Recruitment Hub (The Hub), located on GovTeams, will be available for use by Commonwealth agencies from July 2022. The Hub has been created as a working prototype which will continue to be reviewed, iterated and improved based on feedback from users.
One of the substantial resources now available through the Hub is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employee Value Proposition Tool for Recruiters. The Tool is designed to assist recruitment specialists, communications practitioners and hiring managers to create compelling campaigns specific to the agency and the vacancy.
The Tool contains:
- customisable content templates
- suggested wording
- hints and checklists
which can be used to attract Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates.
The next step for the project is Phase 3, which will see the Inclusion Group at the APSC support agencies who are conducting AM – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment at the APS5, APS6 or equivalent to use the Hub guidance and resources. Phase 3 will include regular touch points, to help improve the agency and candidate experience while undertaking AM recruitment at these levels. Feedback will be sought directly from the participating agencies, and will go towards iterating the guidance and resources.
