The capability review of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has been published under the Australian Government’s Capability Review Program.

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water capability review was led by a Senior Review Team comprising independent reviewers Mike Mrdak AO and Mary Wiley-Smith, and APS reviewers Matt Lowe, Deputy Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Lisa Elliston, First Assistant Secretary, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Staff from the Australian Public Service Commission supported the senior reviewers with their work.

The report was tabled in the Australian Parliament on 2 June 2026.
