Employment decisions must comply with the Public Service Act 1999 (PS Act), Public Service Regulations 1999 (Regulations) and Australian Public Service Commissioner’s Direction 2016 (the Directions). These specify that all engagements and promotions in the APS are based on merit, and that selection processes must be fair and transparent.
The purpose of these principles is to provide APS agencies with considerations when seeking to go beyond the APS employment framework for senior executive capabilities.
