APSC Census results 2025
The Australian Public Service (APS) Employee Census is an annual survey of all staff, providing a platform to share their experiences and perspectives. The insights gathered help agencies understand workforce trends and inform actions across a wide range of areas, from leadership and capability to workplace culture, wellbeing and organisational performance.
In 2025, 92% of Commission staff opted to participate and share their views. Such robust engagement signals a high degree of trust and assures us that the feedback is representative, forming a strong basis for meaningful action planning.
This year, our results once again compared favourably with the APS overall. While some of our key indices have improved, others held steady or shifted slightly, highlighting both our ongoing strengths and opportunities for further focus.
Some of our key strengths to celebrate and build upon are:
- 80 per cent of respondents feel the Commission is doing a good job of promoting health and wellbeing
- 90 per cent feel the Commission supports and actively promotes an inclusive workplace culture
- 93 per cent are satisfied with my non-monetary employment conditions (e.g. leave, flexible work arrangements, other benefits)
- 82 per cent are proud to work at the Commission
- 89 per cent believe strongly in the Commission’s purpose and objectives.
Where to from here
The Census results helps the Commission identify areas of strong performance, opportunities for further development, and measure progress against our organisational strategies, initiatives and workplace culture.
The 2025 Census action plan will outline the Commission’s response to the feedback received through the annual APS Employee Census survey and will be published by the end of November.
For more detail about interpreting, benchmarking and comparing the results, we recommend visiting the Australian Public Service Commission’s Census page and reading the explanatory guide for more technical information.
We publicly release our 2025 results to show our commitment to transparency and our people.
