The Australian Public Service at a glance 30 June 22

 
The first image provides the APS headcount of 159,469 at 30 June 2022, which is a 3.8% increase from the June 2021 headcount. Ongoing employees make up 88.3% of the APS while non-ongoing employees represent 11.7%. The proportion of non-ongoing employees increased from 12.8% in 2021. During the 2021-22 financial year, there were 17,921 ongoing engagements and 11,082 ongoing separations.
14.3% of APS employees are under the age of 30, 24.6% are between the age of 30 to 39, 27.9% between 40 to 49, & 33.2% of APS employees are 50 years old and older. Indigenous employees make up 3.5% of the APS workforce, a 0.2% drop from June 2021. Employees with a disability make up 4.7% of the APS workforce. This is an increase of 0.1% since June 2021. Females make up 60.4% of the APS workforce, a 0.2% increase from June 2021.
Full-time employees make up 80.9% of the APS workforce, an increase of 0.2% from mid-2021. Part-time make up 13.2% of the APS workforce, a decrease of 0.7% from June 2021. Casual make up 5.9% of the APS workforce, an increase of 0.5% from mid-2021. Australian Capital Territory has 60,997 employees which equates to 38.3% of the workforce. NSW has 26,963 employees - 16.9%. VIC has 26,758 employees - 16.8%. QLD has 19,638 employees - 12.3%. SA 10,423 employees - 6.5%. WA has 7,589 employees or 4.8%.
