What is it like to work at the APSC?
The Commission offers its employees a safe and supportive working environment with generous employment conditions and opportunities for professional development.
The Commission has approximately 200 employees predominately located in Canberra, with a small number of people located in Sydney. All graduate positions are based in Canberra.
In Canberra we have recently moved to the newly renovated Treasury Building, in Canberra’s Parliamentary triangle. We are fortunate to have many national icons in close proximity, including Parliament House, Old Parliament House, the National Library and the National Gallery of Australia. Lake Burley-Griffin is at our doorstep and offers cyclists, walkers and runners the chance to get out doors to enjoy the views and clock up some steps. The nearby Kingston Foreshore is a vibrant and diverse dining precinct perfect for catching up with friends or work colleagues.
We support our employees to work flexibly to assist them to balance work with other responsibilities and interests. Whether it be working part-time or working part of the week from home, the Commission’s culture is one that supports and enables flexible arrangements for its employees.
The Commission values diversity and recognises the contributions that we are all able to bring to our workplace. We have a number of networks to help us understand and respond to the needs of our employees. Our networks, championed by members of our Executive are:
- Disability and Carers Network
- LGBTI Network
- Indigenous Employees Network
- The Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group
We celebrate diversity by acknowledging special days including Harmony Day, International Day of People with Disability, International Women’s Day, Reconciliation week and NAIDOC week.
