I’m talking to you today as the patron of Australian Government Leadership Network. The Network is an informal but important organisation that operates outside Canberra. Its key role is to really develop the leadership capabilities of our staff who are not located in Canberra. I think it’s important to, if you like, counteract some of the impact of the separation of people who are away from the Canberra scene and the dialogue that happens in Canberra. Therefore, the Leadership Network organises a number of conferences, meetings and events to really give staff the opportunity to consider and engage with contemporary leaders about matters that are currently of importance to the government and to the public service.
So look, I encourage you to take up the opportunity to attend the event in your state or your region, your territory. It gives you the chance to see what leaders from across government are talking about, see as important and also it gives you an opportunity to network with your colleagues, to share experiences, and that is often, I find, a very good way to learn. It’s a good opportunity. We fully support the Australian Government Leadership Network and I encourage you to take up the opportunity to attend events and to learn some more. Thank you.
