Veterans' employment program

Ensuring our veterans find meaningful employment is one of the best ways to help them make the transition from the Defence Force into post-service life

The Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP
Former Prime Minister of Australia

On 17 November 2016,  Malcolm Turnball launched the Veterans’ Employment Program (VEP).

The program aims to ensure all Australian Defence Force (ADF) veterans are ready for the opportunities of post-service life.

Delivery of the flagship initiative is the responsibility of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) is supporting the VEP through a Toolkit for ADF Veterans, this toolkit includes

  • information for veterans seeking employment in the APS
  • a table that aligns ADF rank to the APS classification structure
  • a practical guide for veterans applying for jobs in the APS
