SES Orientation is a four-month program providing new SES-level employees with the skills and knowledge required to transition to the role. Participants for this program are people currently transitioning to APS SES Band 1 roles, with less than 12 months experience performing duties (including acting) at this level.
The SES Orientation program is the first step in building the foundation for senior leadership in the APS. This includes ensuring new recruits understand Australian Government processes, standards and principles in order to survive and thrive as a senior executive. This program is complementary to agency-specific orientation and other programs, allowing for greater networking opportunities for new SES.
- Develop ability to meet priority management accountabilities for commencement at the SES Band 1 level.
- Develop priority leadership and stewardship practices for commencement at the SES Band 1 level.
