Managing mental health in the workplace is an important issue for the APS.
The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) is reviewing the management of mental health in the Australian Public Service (APS) on behalf of the Secretaries Equality and Diversity Council.
The review aims to identify the major barriers affecting mental health management in the APS, improve managers’ confidence and capability when employing and managing people with mental health conditions and develop a best practice approach to managing mental health that can be shared across the APS.
The Department is also looking at private sector innovations for managing wellbeing in the workplace and academic research on evidence-based outcomes.
The survey is voluntary and open to all APS staff. The confidential and anonymous survey will take approximately ten minutes to complete and closes on 19 February 2019.
Alternatively, nominate yourself to represent your Agency at a collaborative workshop in early 2019. These sessions will help DIIS develop a best practice approach to mental health in the APS.
