The Australian Public Service Commission will deliver an Engagement and Capability Uplift Program to build stronger relationships between the Australian and Indian public sectors.
The Program encourages:
- closer relationships between institutions
- better professional networks
- support of civil service and economic reform programs.
The Program is for Australian and Indian regulatory officials and has 3 components:
- Senior level dialogue between groups of officers from both nations. These will help develop understanding between the two countries’ regulatory agencies of each other’s operating environment and policy settings.
- Secondment opportunities to regulatory agencies. These will support the completion of projects valued by both nations.
- A leadership and regulatory development pathway program delivered by the APS Academy. This will develop skills and knowledge of regulatory and leadership practices.
The Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment announced the Program as part of the launch of the Update to the India Economic Strategy to 2035 on 22 March 2022 and comes at a good time for both nations. The Program will support Australia’s ambition to develop shared understanding and trust in our institutions. It also provides benefits to both countries by supporting:
- stronger, more sustainable economic growth
- more secure and diversified supply chains.
