The Commission has celebrated completing the Spring 2017 Positive Action towards Career Engagement (PACE) program. Coordinated by the Australian Network on Disability, the program aims to help university students and jobseekers with disability to improve their confidence and knowledge about entering the workforce.

Managers and supervisors develop their leadership skills and disability confidence and jobseekers gain vital workplace experience and expand their networks.

Five mentors from the Commission were matched to participants from the local Canberra community. The Commission partnered with local mentors from ANZ bank.

Initiatives like this have the ability to takes us away from the theoretical and make us active participants in the community. The Commission encourages APS agencies to consider participating in the PACE program, or others like it. Exploring practical ways that help managers to improve diversity awareness will be of long-term benefit to the APS and the community as a whole.
