My name is Angela Hanson and I'm from the Gold Coast. I studied a Bachelor of International Relations at Bond University, majoring in International Relations and International Diplomacy.
I am currently completing the 2017 Graduate program at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a Policy Graduate.
My name is Carmen, I'm from Newcastle. I moved from Newcastle. I'm a Wiradjuri woman. My Mob come from Piambong in the Mudgee area, but I grew up in Dubbo.
I originally came from Brisbane where I studied at QUT, and I relocated for the Grad program last year.
So part of that process was, the relocation van, they put me up in an apartment that was very close to work.
I had a Grad buddy who was absolutely fantastic can't speak highly enough of that, and she was Indigenous too, so she really understood me. And I had the Indigenous staff network,I had support from the APSC staff, I had support from a mentor at the Department of Finance, and I had support from the Diversity Team in HR, and also in my own team. So I think I had loads of support.
I think for anyone applying for the Graduate Program, all i would say is don't hesitate.
It is such an amazing experience, I have learnt so much from this. I never thought I'd be where I am now after just one year down here in Canberra and I highly recommend it. It's been an amazing, amazing experience, and I couldn't recommend it more highly.
