Information and communications technology

The Commission continued to receive ICT infrastructure services through the Employment and Education Shared Services Centre.

In the reporting year, the Commission updated the 2016–2019 ICT Strategy. The strategy looks to position the Commission as a flexible consumer of ICT services, including through greater use of cloud computing services. The theme of digital transformation also features strongly in the revised strategy, reflecting current government initiatives. The Commission continued to improve the ICT facilities used by staff by upgrading to multi-function print and copy devices, enhancing audio-visual facilities and purchasing new laptops for selected staff.

Website enhancements

The Commission introduced a new website, www.stateoftheservice.apsc.gov.au, to publish the results of the State of the Service Report and the explanatory material relating to these results. The Commission also launched an updated version of the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal website, www.dfrt.gov.au. The updated website has an improved search function, clearer layout and improved navigation.

Document and records management system

In 2015–16, the Commission upgraded key components of the document and records management system. This upgrade included an improvement to the records management system's web interface, ensuring ongoing support and improved functionality.
