United, world-class, dynamic, trusted and great to work for — that’s the APS we want according to the largest review of the Australian Public Service in more than 40 years.
In a speech to over 400 participants at the Institute of Public Administration Australia’s ACT conference, plus those watching online, the Independent Review’s Chair David Thodey named five priorities for the future of the public service based on six months of information gathering.
'We'd like to thank every public servant who has been part of this review so far,' said the head of the Review's Secretariat David Williamson.
'An overwhelming amount of our 700 submissions came from the service, another 370 of you considered the issues in our half day workshops, and we’ve spoken to well over 1000 public servants around the country.'
'It's clear there are things holding us back from doing the job we would like to. We've turned your input into a vision for the service of the future. The question now is, how should our panel make it a reality?'
The Review has opened an online forum to share the panel’s thinking and get your ideas for improving the environment we all work in.
