The awards will recognise the many APS employees and teams that routinely go above and beyond their formal duties in promoting workplace diversity. They will also acknowledge our commitment to diversity more widely. The awards would also provide us a platform to showcase and share the best diversity employment strategies to promote innovative approaches to equality and diversity APS wide.
Nomination forms can be downloaded on the how to enter page on the Awards website. For more information on the nomination and assessment process, please visit the how to enter page.
The award categories reflect the current priorities of the Secretaries Equality and Diversity Council.
Yes, definitely. The awards are about recognising the best, not necessarily the biggest. Some initiatives may have a wider reach than others, however sometimes it is the smaller actions that affect only a few individuals that make the most difference. Small steps that foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace have the potential to lead to cultural change within the agency and across the APS.
The APSC evaluation panel will assess all applications to create a shortlist of finalists. An independent judging panel will then decide on the winners in each category.
The independent judging panel is designed to bring a balance of personal and professional expertise to the judging process, and to ensure that it is sound and impartial.
Each award winner will receive a custom designed trophy. Winning agencies will also be given permission to use the Diversity Awards logo to promote themselves as award winning for their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
