Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) networks work to create a more supportive and inclusive work environment for CALD staff in their agency. Some of their activities include celebrating cultural events, organising key note speakers, LOTE lunchtime conversation sessions, and training workshops for CALD staff. A notable example of collaboration between CALD networks was this year’s joint Lunar New Year lion dance event held by PM&C and AGD.
The Treasury CALD Network recently gave people from different networks a chance to share their experiences and plan to work together through the inaugural Interagency CALD Network Meeting. The meeting, hosted across Treasury’s Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney offices was attended by representatives from over 20 departments and agencies. The meeting inspired people from agencies without a network to encourage their agency to establish a CALD network of their own. CALD networks across the APS plan to hold another meeting in the future.
