The 2018 APS employee census asked five questions about people’s perception of innovation within their agency. These were used to create an overall innovation index score in the APS of 64%. This is a two percentage point increase from 2017.
Census results also show that agencies with a higher innovation index are perceived to be much better at encouraging suggestions, caring about health and wellbeing, having high-quality SES who set clear strategic direction, and managing the workforce and change well.
