Bureau releases weather calendar for 2020
Spectacular storms, sensational sunrises, curious clouds, remarkable rainbows and other amazing weather you may never have heard of—it's all captured in glossy full colour in the Bureau of Meteorology's Australian Weather Calendar 2020.
The breathtaking photos are carefully selected from a national competition, where amateurs and professionals alike compete with their very best weather shots. The dynamic and unpredictable nature of weather means that it's not just those with top-end equipment who are successful. It can also be everyday people with a 'weather eye' who slip the mobile phone out of their pocket at just the right moment whose unique, creative or dramatic compositions win through.
The photos are magnificent but the calendar is more than just a pretty face. It also features easy-to-understand science by the Bureau's experts, explaining the weather you see in the photos. Additionally, there's information about average weather conditions for 12 major cities and stories about the Bureau's work to keep Australians ahead of the weather.
The Australian Weather Calendar has made a favourite Christmas gift for more than 35 years. Advance sales are open now at shop.bom.gov.au.
