Executive commitment
The Commission is committed to safeguarding the health and safety of its employees, workers and visitors by providing and maintaining a safe working environment. The Commission aims to eliminate all preventable work-related injuries and illness and is committed to supporting employee wellbeing.
Rehabilitation management system
The Commission monitored and reviewed the system as a part of its commitment to continuous improvement in rehabilitation management in 2015–16, and submitted a rehabilitation management system certificate of compliance to Comcare.
Health and wellbeing
Initiatives under the health and wellbeing program are developed in consultation with employees and the Workplace Relations/Health and Safety Committee. Initiatives during 2015–16 included:
- influenza vaccinations
- reimbursement for employees who require assistance to quit smoking or require glasses for visually demanding tasks
- first aid officers trained to ensure that immediate assistance is available if required
- updates to the reasonable adjustment policy, including implementing a Reasonable Adjustment Passport for employees.
Notifiable incidents, notices and investigations
In 2015–16, no notifiable incidents occurred at the Commission under Part 3 or Part 5 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
