The State of the Service for 2023 report is now available.
The State of the Service Report is a collaboration between the Australian Public Service Commission and APS agencies.
It shows how the APS is supporting the priorities of the Australian Government and serving the Australian community.

In 2023, 103 APS agencies participated in the APS Employee Census, with 159,539 APS employees invited to respond to the survey. A total of 127,436 APS employees responded, with a response rate of 80 per cent. The APS Employee Census ran from Monday 8 May to Friday 9 June 2023.


Current initiatives
The Australian Government is committed to fair and equitable conditions of employment and job security. The Commonwealth will act as a model employer in the APS bargaining process, including through genuine bargaining to improve pay and conditions for APS employees.
