Ensuring our veterans find meaningful employment is one of the best ways to help them make the transition from the Defence Force into post-service life

The Prime Minister, The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull launching the Veteran's employment program

On 17 November 2016 the Prime Minister launched the Veterans’ Employment Program (VEP).

The program aims to ensure all Australian Defence Force (ADF) veterans are ready for the opportunities of post-service life.

Delivery of the flagship initiative is the responsibility of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) is supporting the VEP through the development of:

  • this website, which contains information specific to veterans seeking employment in the APS
  • a guide that aligns ADF ranks to APS classifications
  • a practical toolkit to guide veterans through the process of applying for an APS job.

It is our goal for the information within these pages to be practical, applicable and helpful to veterans. If you have any advice for improvement, please email communication@apsc.gov.au.
