Policy for SES

Policy for SES is presented by the Australian Public Service Commission, in association with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government. This programme will explore the complex art of policy development, implementation and evaluation.
The ability to digest and implement policy is an essential skill for the SES. This programme will deepen your understanding of policy as a sphere of activity and its significance to individual, organisational and whole-ofgovernment performance within the APS.
Programme overview
The programme discusses emerging and complex policy issues and challenges as they affect senior public sector managers, analysts and leaders. It will enhance your understanding of the changing nature of Australian policy development.
The programme focuses on four key sessions:
- policy analysis and advising: art, science or craft?
- policy development, implementation and evaluation
- the changing environment for policy work
- building policy capability and performance in the APS
