Graduate Events Series 2017

The Australian Public Service Commission's Graduate Events Series are an excellent avenue for Australian Public Service (APS) graduates to build their knowledge of current APS issues while establishing strong networks amongst their graduate colleagues from other departments and agencies.

In 2017, we are introducing an interactive and candid flavour to the Graduate event series. This refresh will enhance networking opportunities with graduates and managers across the APS.

Registrations are now open for the Commission's Graduate Event Series 2017, receive a 10% discount when registering for all four events in the graduate event series, save $50 pp.

A Taste of Government

Thursday 6 April 2017, Great Hall, Parliament House ACT – $100 pp

Is the first graduate event and provides an excellent introduction into the Australian Public Service. Graduates will hear panel members views on APS reform, priorities and expectations of the APS in 2017. The event includes a Q&A session and networking.

GradHack

Wednesday 7 June 2017, Venue TBC ACT – $150 pp

Provides a platform for graduates to work collaboratively, externally on a real APS challenge and think-tank a solution to pitch to senior executives, it will also provide an opportunity to work across organisational boundaries as well as grow their networks.

Graduate Mentor

Thursday 31 August 2017, Venue TBC – $150 pp

Graduate Mentor is an exciting new addition to the graduate series; the event will be fast paced and aims to provide graduates with the opportunity to engage with multiple groups of likeminded persons and mentors of their choice, expanding their network and APS development.

Leadership Reflections

Wednesday 25 October 2017, Hotel Realm Barton – $100 pp

Leadership Reflections is panel-style discussion with inspiring leaders who candidly reflect on success and failure in their careers. The event has been strategically placed as the last event in the series to provide graduates with honest and candid career stories as they prepare for their future. Panel members consist of former graduates, trainees and entry level APS employees who have progressed to leadership roles.

What are the benefits of attending?

There are four events in the series that are specifically designed for graduates, providing valuable insights into the APS and its senior managers in an interactive and entertaining manner. Networking opportunities form a key element of the proceedings for each event to promote the development of peer relationships across government.

Who should attend Grad events?

All APS graduates are strongly encouraged to attend the Grad events. Graduate coordinators and supervisors are also welcome.
