The APSC Events Team recently kicked off the 2017 Canberra event series with APS Wide – Creating excellence through innovation. The event attracted 230 APS attendees of all levels from APS 2 to SES, and marks the start of a stellar events program in Canberra.

The panel style event saw Janna McCann, Director, BizLab, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science; Rick Wingfield, Partner, Accelerator, Australia Post and Jane Haycock, Director InnovationXchange, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade each present their insights into their own approaches to innovation within their teams projects and organisation .

The event facilitator, Cameron Pitt, Partner, Human Capital, Deloitte then steered a captivating panel discussion that focused on how strong leadership skills can influence innovation in organisations.

There were looks of concentration from the audience as heads were down and devices on as Cameron encouraged attendees to participate in the interactive live polling. The final question saw a high percentage of attendees agree that based on the events discussion, innovative ideas in their workplace are well embraced.

The Hon. John Lloyd, Australian Public Service Commissioner, closed the event and thanked everyone involved for such a successful and insightful Innovation discussion.
