Digital identity

Engaging with online government services will be simplified in 2018, thanks to the introduction of Govpass.

Govpass is being developed by the DTA with the purpose of creating a digital identity for Australian citizens that is recognised and trusted by online government services. The benefit of this digital identity is that it gives more Australians the option to complete their government business online, rather than visiting a shopfront.

The DTA is currently seeking public feedback on its Trusted Digital Identity Framework, which will underpin the Govpass project. You are invited to review and provide feedback on the 14 documents that make up the draft framework until 8 December.

While still in development phase, Govpass is due to be tested with service providers in early 2018, prior to its launch to the general public in mid-2018.
