What changes are being made?

Excessive prescription on performance management has been removed from the Australian Public Service Commissioner's Directions 2016.

The requirement for agency heads to put in place effective performance management policies and processes remains unchanged.

More guidance on performance management is available on the APSC website at http://www.apsc.gov.au/working-in-the-aps/performance.

What do agencies need to do?

Agencies may wish to check their policies and procedures against the new Directions and the APSC's guidance material and update if necessary.

What transition arrangements need to be put in place?

None

  • Section 10A of the Public Service Act 1999
  • Section 39 and 40 of the Australian Public Service Commissioner's Directions 2016
