These frequently asked questions have been designed to assist agencies prepare for the commencement of the Australian Public Service Commissioner's Directions 2016.
Why aren't performance expectations specified for staff and managers anymore?
The existing Directions provide an unnecessary level of prescriptive detail. The new Directions contain only those instructions that form the basis of sound performance management practices that Agency Heads are obliged to follow.
Agency Heads will have greater discretion to determine the performance management framework appropriate to their individual agency.
