Frequently asked questions about Commission learning and development

How do I register on a programme?

There are two ways you can register on an Australian Public Service Commission (the Commission) programme. You can register online or by fax.

Online

To register online, visit www.apscregistration.gov.au.  Instructions on how to book online can be found at https://www.apscregistration.gov.au/Help/Help.htm

By Facsimile

A registration form is provided on the reverse side of individual flyers or by accessing the link, www.apsc.gov.au/registration. Once all the details are completed on the form, fax it to the relevant office. Contact details for Commission offices are provided on the flyer.

How can I check how many places are available on a programme?

Available places on specific programmes can be accessed by visiting www.apscregistration.gov.au.

To be placed on a reserve list for a programme, please complete a registration form and fax it back to your relevant Commission office.

I paid for a programme by credit card; when will I receive an invoice?

If you indicated on the registration form that you would like to pay by credit card, your completed registration form will act as a tax invoice as stated in the terms and conditions on the form.

If you registered online and have not received a tax invoice (please allow 5 working days), please email apscregistration@apsc.gov.au .

I am registered on a programme but now am unable to attend. What do I need to do?

The Commission has a 30 day cancellation policy which can be viewed at http://www.apsc.gov.au/learn/cancellation.htm. If you advise the Commission outside 30 days from the date of the programme you may withdraw and receive a full refund.

If the cancellation is received inside the 30 day cancellation period the Commission will accept a substitute (from your department) at no extra cost. To complete the substitution process, please write ‘substitution’ on a new registration form and include the original participant’s name as well as the substitute’s name.

How do I confirm if I am enrolled in a programme?

Once you have been registered (or placed on a reserve list) you will receive an email confirming either your registration or placement on a reserve list.

If you have registered via fax and the programme is full, a Commission staff member will advise that you are on a reserve list.

What can I do if a programme is full?

If there are no places available on your preferred programme you can request a place on the reserve list. In the event of a place becoming available, the Commission will contact you.

Where possible, the Commission provides extra iterations of popular programmes and those on the reserve lists are given first priority.

If I am on a reserve list, how will I know if a place becomes available?

Once a place becomes available, a Commission staff member will offer you the place. You will not be charged for the place until your registration has been confirmed. You will receive an automatic email once registration has been confirmed.

If you do not receive a place, you will not automatically be enrolled on the next programme; you will need to register separately for the next available programme.

How do I find the right programme for me?

A comprehensive listing of all Commission programmes can be found on our National calendar with information on target audience (such as APS 1–4 or EL2), dates and venues.

The programme managers can also help you find the right programme for you; email apscregistration@apsc.gov.au or phone (02) 6202 3778 for more information.

All of the Commission programmes fall under the following learning and development streams:

The Integrated Leadership System (ILS) may also assist. The ILS provides capability development guidance for individuals in the form of descriptions and behaviours for all levels in the APS.

I am new to the Australian Public Service, what programmes would you recommend I attend?
