Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104)
Programme Delivery
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104) enables people to deliver training in an industry area or area of subject matter expertise, and to conduct competency-based assessments in a range of contexts.
This unique learning pathway is designed especially to enhance the careers of trainers and assessors in the Australian Public Service and is ideally suited to new and developing trainers and assessors. The program places a strong emphasis on training effectively in the APS environment and enhances trainers and assessors understanding of the Public Sector Training Package. The program will challenge participants to be a successful trainer and assessor.
Program overview
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment has been designed to run over a four month period.
The course consists of 14 Units of Competency (12 core units and 2 elective units) as required for this qualification; composed of 13 modules delivered over 11 days and 2 assessment days. Throughout the face-to-face sessions case studies, scenarios and discussions will provide opportunities for the formative assessment of candidates’ knowledge. Another 2 days will be used for the candidates to demonstrate their skills in facilitating group learning. Along with in-class activities and observation of group facilitation skills, candidates will submit twelve written assignments.
The qualification provides essential skills and knowledge to be an effective trainer and assessor.
An underpinning principle of the course is to prepare participants to become lifelong independent learners.
On successful completion of the course participants will be awarded the nationally-recognised Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the Australian Public Service Commission.
