Indigenous Career Ambassadors

As an Executive Level 2, Director for Early Childhood and Child Care I am responsible for a wide range of programs that assist children and their families to access and engage in safe, playful, learning environments. My team and I work closely with remote communities, community based services, the private sector, other state and commonwealth government departments and the non-government sector.
I have had a diverse career in various Australian Government departments and agencies since joining the APS in 1991. I have worked extensively across program delivery; both mainstream and Indigenous specific, developed and implemented policy, managed human resource and corporate areas and worked in change management and leadership areas. All of these roles have enabled me to travel extensively and engage with a range of people and communities that I might not have otherwise been able to do.
The APS has provided me with the tools and learning and development opportunities to support me to undertake these roles. In addition, my personal experiences including interacting with communities, exposure to national and local issues, interaction with ministers and most importantly surrounding myself with family and strong networks have all influenced and contributed to my success in the APS.
As you can see, the APS offers Indigenous people opportunities to work in various departments and agencies, and across a wide range of corporate, program and policy areas.
