WelcomeWelcome to our Townsville IAPSEN. IAPSEN is for all Indigenous Australian Public Servants (APS) in Townsville. So come along to our meetings and find out what is happening in other APS agencies. We hold our meetings over various times to try and suit as many people as possible with an ideal opportunity to network with your fellow Indigenous APS employees. Our meetings include guest speakers, updates on what is happening in the APS, information on APSC Indigenous Programmes and general discussions. The Committee is currently working hard to reform and re-energise the Townsville network and is striving to make the network more relevant and supportive for Townsville Indigenous APS employees. NewsNominations are sort for the North Queensland Indigenous APS Employees Network (IAPSEN) Chairperson.IAPSEN'sThe Indigenous APS Employees Networks (IAPSENs) were established as an Australian Public Service Commission initiative in response to feedback from APS Indigenous staff that there was a need for Indigenous employees in the Australian Public Service (APS) to have a means of networking in order to provide support to each other. IAPSENs provide an important mechanism for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to support each other, share information and experiences and promote cultural awareness and respect in the wider APS. Meetings and agendas are driven by members of IAPSEN. As chair, you will be expected to take a leadership role in organising meetings and events for Indigenous APS employees. ROLE OF THE AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (APSC)The role of the APSC is to provide secretariat support to the Chair and IAPSEN. This might include convening meetings, assisting with arranging guest speakers, organising catering and providing a venue for meetings. DUTIESWe recognise that the operation of IAPSENs may vary in each region to meet the local needs and requirements. The role of IAPSEN Chair is a career development opportunity requiring time and commitment and we suggest discussing with your workplace manager prior to nominating for the role.
