Frequently asked questions

Do I need to sit the Public Service Board test to gain employment in the APS?

No, there is no longer a requirement to sit the Public Service exam.

Agencies are now responsible for undertaking their own recruitment selection processes.

However, there are some APS-wide recruitment initiatives for employment across the APS, such as traineeships and cadetships, including the National Indigenous Cadetship Project, which is run by the Australian Public Service Commission and the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
