The Career Transition and Support Centre (CTSC)
Review of the Career Transition and Support Centre
The Career Transition and Support Centre (CTSC) is a redeployment and APS recruitment service within the Commission that was set up in response to anticipated employment fluctuations related to the Government’s efficiency dividend. Since it began operating in May 2008, the Centre has assisted 46 Agencies with their excess or potentially excess staff by providing structured career advice, training and support on an individual, tailored basis.
This programme was partially funded to, and will terminate on, 30 June 2010.
It’s important to note that agencies no longer need to notify CTSC of potential job vacancies. As we move towards a whole of APS workforce plan, new arrangements for sharing potential vacancies will emerge, as will faster, more streamlined recruitment methodologies. Commission staff will work closely with Agency HR specialists in this space.
Many agencies have developed mechanisms for managing staff excesses in their workforce, and will continue to refine these processes. Under the APS Reform agenda, the Commission will play a leadership role in assisting agencies to grow capacity in the related areas of workforce planning and the development of mobility mechanisms across the APS, under the broader banner of Human Capital Strategy.
Whilst agency capability is building, the Commission will continue to offer limited career advisory services to change affected employees on an hourly charge out basis. For further information about this service please contact Jennifer McIntosh at careeradvice@apsc.gov.au or (02) 6202 3821.
